Hanky Panky | Classic Gin Cocktail

Writer: Kevin KosKevin Kos

Hanky Panky was created by one of the most famous female bartenders in the world, Ada Coleman. This classic gin cocktail is great for cold weather so make sure to get the ingredients for it before the festive feasts! Coley created it for one of her customers at the American Bar in Savoy Hotel and it was first written in the first edition of the Savoy Cocktail Book. I made it with Gin Mare, which is a wonderful Mediterranean gin, Antica Formula sweet vermouth, and Fernet Branca, the Italian amaro that gives this cocktail a well-known herbaceous kick. Doing research for this episode I found some interesting information regarding Fernet Branca and my home country, Slovenia. Did you hear it in the episode? Here is how I made this great cold-weather classic gin cocktail:

Hanky Panky

• 45 ml (1 ½ oz) Gin Mare

• 45 ml (1 ½ oz) sweet vermouth

• 1 barspoon Fernet Branca

Stir to chill and dilute, then strain in a chilled Nick & Nora or coupe glass. Garnish with an orange peel.
